The tale of Blade, Altair, & Daealqua
Sequel to A Lost Hope(Haven't wriiten it yet, short story of Dae's life xD)
The young female wolf laid her pads softly on the forest floor. She looked up, as the young sparrows took flight for the first time. One looked as though it would hit the ground, but saved its self just in time. As it flew off, the she wolf thought of having pups of her own. She sighed softly as she looked at her reflection in the puddle in front of her. With her scarred up body, torn ears and spiked collar from when she was captured, what male would take her as a mate? As she slowly stood up, a tear falling from her ice blue eyes, a crunch sounded behind her. When she turned around a large and scarred up male had pinned a smaller, younger male to the ground.
“Leave or die Arrow!” the larger one snarled.
“You first Blade!” the smaller one said, as it slashed Blade in the face. Blade then turned around and walked a few steps back, then pouncing on Arrow about ready to kill him.
“Stop, stop fighting, you will both die!” She yelled, very loudly for her small structure. They both looked up, almost alarmed, as she growled, “Why do you fight?”
“He was on my turf.” Blade snarled.
“I’m your brother! Doesn’t that mean anything to you?” Arrow barely was able to bark out as Blade crushed his windpipe with a large and heavy paw.
“Correction, were my brother before you killed my mate!”
“I never killed her! She was stolen by hunters!” Arrow protested bravely.
“When you took her to the pond to ’catch some fish, then go swimming’ she was stolen and you ’escaped, after fighting for your life and almost died for her’ when you prance back into camp, without a scratch on you!” Blade pinned Arrow again, ripping open his throat, leaving him to die. Blade then looked at the young wolf, his golden orbs searching hers for any reaction or sign of fear. When he sees none, he comes over to her and wipes away her tears.
“Why do you cry small one?” Blade softly asked.
“Be-because you have family… or at least someone who cares about you. It made me see that I truly do have nothing… never to have anything… I mean look at me I’m hideous.” She breaks into a sobbing fit as he tries to help comfort her.
“What is your name?” Blade asked, almost at a whisper.
“D-Daealqua, but call me Dae. It means Shadow Swan.” Dae managed to squeak out. Blade nodded, and then flicked his tail to have the young mistress follow him. Dae looked around the area she was led to.
“These mountains guard the camp, as do these rivers here.” Blade pointed towards the rivers that met then split, forming an island, the pack camp. She looked up, and saw a large tree in the middle of the island, as Blade led her over the river, then into the narrow thorn tunnel, in a massive stone wall, surrounding the camp.
“Why do you guard your camp so heavily?” She asked softly after coming out of the tunnel, shaking thorns from her fur.
“Look up.” Blade instructed. As Dae looked up, she gasped. The camp was so beautiful; she felt wrong standing in it with the way she looked. He sensed her discomfort when she looked to the ground, staring intensely at her paw.
“Why do you do that? Do you not like it? We can go to the summer camp or-“ Dae cut Blade off.
“Blade its fine, I just don’t feel right being here. It is so pretty…”
Blade interrupted Dae as she began to stand up. “You fit well; you are more beautiful than any camp Ash can create.”
Dae stopped dead in her tracks. “Blade, you don’t mean that. I am not meant for anywhere as beautiful as this. I belong in a grave Blade. I should be dead!” as she yelled the last few words she ran off, out the thorn tunnel and into the territory. Blade sighed and followed her, knowing she could get killed easily if she was caught alone.
Dae ran, as fast as her paws would take her. She tripped on a tree root, and nearly snapped her leg in two, but kept running, letting the blood flow freely down her leg. She laughed as she ran, knowing where she was going, as she tracked one of her siblings down. She was paying no mind to what was around her, as she was lost in memories, but was jerked back to the real world when she was pinned down by two massive wolves, a third standing guard nearby.
“Why are you here loner?” the bigger of the two wolves snarled in her face. The other one saw the blood on her leg and pushed the other one off.
“She’s hurt!” the smaller of the wolves cried out.
“Shut up Moon! She is an intruder!” the bigger one snarled, not taking his green eyes off of Dae. Dae, out of instinct, knew he was about to attack. As she carefully planned her move, she looked like she was about to attack Moon. As she leaped, she turned mid air and landed square on the bigger ones shoulders, pinning him down. As he struggled to stand, she yawned, putting no effort into holding him. Dae quickly grew tired of his game and cut open his throat, as he was about to kick her off. He did, when she slashed his neck, she was knocked into a tree and a rather loud snap erupted from the impact. She stood up, shook off, and leaped at Moon, as Moon was running to attack. Moon managed to rip open Dae’s belly, moments before she too, lay dead at Dae’s paws. As she turned to the smallest, it ran off, going to hide. Just as Dae was about to find water, she looked at the splatters of blood everywhere. Smirking to herself, she trotted away, to find a small pond.
As Dae dove in the cool water, she heard a loud gasp coming where she left Moon and the other wolf. She quickly washed off, and as she was going to run off again, she ran straight into Blade.
“What the-“was all she managed to get out before crashing into him. As he frantically looked around for whatever had killed Moon and the other wolf.
“Wow you don’t know how happy I am to see you Dae!” He said a bit too loudly. “It’s even better that you are ok. I don’t know what killed Moon and Solar, but-“He was again cut off by her mumbling.
“So that was his name…”
“Did you see them be attacked? What was it?” He questioned, wanting to know what killed his friends and pack members.
“Yes and… I- I can’t answer you about that”, as she sat down, blood oozed from many cuts on her sides and belly, and scrapes on her back. Her leg was bleeding badly again to.
“Dae what did you do? Fight a bear blindfolded?!” Blade was beginning to fret about her leg, and all of the blood, when he noticed a blood trail leading from Moon and Solar, to he now blood red pond, which Dae just got out of.
“Dae…. Did you kill Moon and Solar?” his eyes widening as he realized, the two strongest pack members were now dead, because of this wolf, who he thought just had a bad past, and bad family.
Dae looked at her paws, as she bound her broken leg tightly. She looked up defiance in her eyes. “Yes Blade. Yes, I killed Moon and Solar.”
She got up to walk away as he asked ”Who helped you?”
She sighed. “Nobody did Blade. I was alone.” At this comment his eyes widened, for the first time he could remember, he was terrified of this wolf. She walked away, knowing his surprise, as she ran off, hiding in a tree.
“Dae, wait! We need to talk!” Blade yelled. Dae jumped down silently from the tree above him.
“What about?” She said anger evident in her voice.
“Well, we might be able to go back to camp and see if Ash will let you join…”
“For killing members of her pack? Yea, you go see, I will wait here.” Sarcasm laid heavily on the last comment.
“Not just any members Dae, the Beta pair. That makes you Beta. Well, you and your mate, of course.” Blade explained.
Dae’s jaw dropped and she let out a yelp of surprise.” You are kidding, right, you have to be.”
“No Dae, I am most certainly not. I don’t kid about such a high rank.” Blade was completely serious. Dae was silent while they walked; running through what would happen when they reached the camp. As Dae squeezed through the small tunnel, she saw the leopard telling about what had happened in the woods. She saw as Ash nodded, then When Ash yelled” find and kill that wolf at all costs!” Dae looked down, hoping Blade would protect her. As she came out of the tunnel, she was surrounded by a snarling circle of teeth and claws. She knew she would die, if they attacked. Out of the crowd she saw Blade talking to Ash. He was speaking in low, hushed tones. At one point her face lit up, and she looked at Dae with great fear and almost greed in her eyes.
Ash stood up and calmly walked over to Dae, awe and fear evident in her eyes. “You have killed my two strongest warriors, single pawed. You are now the Beta of this Tribe. Congratulations.” To this, Ash’s eyes lit up with a level of proudness that Dae had never before seen. Dae looked back, shocked. She killed two wolves… and now this huge wolf was making her Beta?! All Dae could do was stand there and nod.
“What is your name?” Ash asked softly.
“Daealqua, but call me Dae…”Dae just blankly stared back and answered.
“Welcome to the Tribe Dae. We accept you as a full member to our Tribe, and all responsibilities come with it. We will give you a tour of the camp and territories well, although you seem to know where Mystyk hangs out.” Ash smiled warmly at this last comment. Dae looked at Ash, and saw she had wings.
“Why do you and a few others have wings? Isn’t that like, impossible?”
Ash chuckled softly. “No my dear, we have them because StarClan granted them to us. We have extra lives, or were just blessed at birth. Take me for example, I was granted extra lives, because me, being alpha, are given the option to live longer to protect and serve our pack. Others, like Fire were just born with wings. Those who are gifted with having wings at birth will become a scout, like Rain, or a Healer, like Sheik is and Moon was. Moon just had not been blessed. She would have been blessed this night.” Her eyes clouded over when she began to talk of Moon, and she looked away, fearful that all of the Tribe would know how much fear she had when she thought of what this wolf could do.
“I am very sorry for your loss of Moon, she tried to stop the fight, but Solar took the killing bite, thinking it was me.” Dae looked at her paws, knowing that this was the kind of pain she could cause, if she killed one wolf… then what if some of her old pack had survived. Her eyes widened at the thought, striking fear into her body. Then she knew, all of her siblings were hunting her. She was not hunting them at all. Her blood ran cold at this thought, causing her to visibly shake.
“What’s wrong Dae?” Ash looked at Dae, concerned.
“N- Nothing, just some memories from my past….” Dae stared off into space with a very distant look on her face. She turned and walked away, not knowing where she was going. As she left the camp, she broke into a sprint, running into a large field of flowers. When she realized where she was, she slowed to a walk. She was surrounded by the most beautiful wildflowers she had seen in a long time. When she looked at one in particular, an almost back rose, with rips in its petals, she began to think of herself, and know that she was alone against the world, no matter what anyone said. She rolled onto her side and fell into a fitful sleep.

As the birds chirped loudly overhead, just before the first rays of sun spread over the land, Dae yawned, and sat up, stretching. She sighed, knowing she should go back. Before she would, she decided to explore and maybe find some water. Dae listened, following the sound of running water. When she finally found a large pool, it was cold and perfect to swim in. As she slowly waded into the water, she smelled another wolf, but was too far in to make a silent escape. Instead, she waded in further, sliding silently under the surface, only her nose breaking the still surface, her only betrayal were tiny waves made when she took a breath.
As the strange male wolf lapped up the water he sat up and said,” I know you are there, just come out and let me see who you are. I won’t tell anyone, or attack you. You are obviously hiding for a reason.” Dae slowly swam back to shore, but did not shake off for fear of him seeing her scars.
He poked and prodded her with his large paws, she gasped in pain when he nosed at her leg. He made her sit, and much to her dislike, move the leg.
